A 15-year-old boy died when he crashed his off-road motorcycle into the back of a sedan, causing the car to crash into an SUV on a San Jacinto street, authorities said Saturday.

He was identified as Carlos Munoz of San Jacinto, according to the Riverside County coroner’s office.

The crash occurred about 12:10 p.m. Friday on Soboba Road south of Lake Park Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer E. Nunez, who investigated at the scene.

Munoz was northbound on Soboba Road at an estimated speed of 50 mph when he crashed into the back of a northbound 2018 Honda Accord driven by a 72-year-old woman, causing her to crash into a southbound 2020 Jeep Rubicon driven by a 74-year-old man, Nunez said.

Munoz and his motocross motorcycle landed in southbound lanes. He was taken by paramedics to the Riverside University Health System Medical Center, where he died from his injuries at 1:02 p.m., the coroner said.

He suffered major blunt force trauma, Nunez said.

The 72-year-old woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hemet Valley Hospital as a precaution, Nunez said. The Jeep driver was not injured.

The crash investigation continued, the officer said.
