The number of coronavirus patients in Riverside County hospitals declined slightly Saturday, falling from 245 on Friday to 243, according to the latest state figures. The number of those patients in intensive care was 64, up from 60 the pervious day.
The latest numbers come one day after county health officials reported 670 new cases of COVID-19 and six new virus-related deaths. The cumulative number of COVID cases recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 378,296, up from 377,626 on Thursday, according to the Riverside University Health System.
A total of 5,476 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the county. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can date back a month or longer.
The number of known active virus cases countywide on Friday was 3,901 — up 299 from Thursday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 378,296 — according to the county’s Executive Office.
Verified patient recoveries countywide were 368,919.
