The number of COVID-19 patients in Riverside County hospitals increased by 11, rising from 243 to 254, according to the latest data.

The number of those patients in intensive care was 70 Tuesday, up from 63 on Monday.

The county also reported 798 new cases of COVID-19. The cumulative number of COVID cases recorded in the county since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 380,388, up from 379,590 on Monday, according to the Riverside University Health System.

A total of 5,484 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the county during the pandemic. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can date back a month or longer from the time they are publicly announced.

The number of known active virus cases countywide on Tuesday was 4,663 — up 553 from Monday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 380,388 — according to the county’s Executive Office.

Verified patient recoveries countywide were 370,241.
