The number of people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Riverside County increased by 30 Friday, the California Department of Public Health said.

According to the agency, COVID hospitalizations countywide were at 462 on Friday, including 86 intensive care unit patients, one more than Thursday’s total.

Officials said the aggregate number of COVID cases recorded since the public health documentation period began in March 2020 is 399,023.

On Thursday, the Riverside University Health System reported that a total 5,585 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the last 21 months. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can go back weeks, according to health officials.

The number of known active virus cases in the county based on available data is 9,127, up 30 from a day ago. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 399,023 — according to the county Executive Office. Verified patient recoveries countywide are 384,311.
