Nighttime road work and associated lane and ramp closures will continue next week along Interstate 10 between Beaumont and the Coachella Valley, Caltrans announced Friday.

Crews have been gradually making improvements to nearly 20 miles of freeway between Beaumont and Highway 111 near Palm Springs as part of the I-10 Pavement Rehabilitation Project, also called the I-10 Tune-Up, for about two years.

Alternating lane and ramp closures will continue Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day westbound along the entire length of the project and eastbound between Beaumont and Banning.

The eastbound 22nd Street on- and off-ramps that closed on Feb. 16 are scheduled to reopen Feb. 28. Caltrans recommends the use of Sunset Avenue as a detour.

The eastbound Main Street on- and off-ramps are scheduled to close on Feb. 22 and reopen March 5. Caltrans recommends the use of Morongo Trail as a detour.

Daytime ramp closures may occur to assist in landscape work from Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Consecutive ramps will not be closed at the same time.

If ramps on 22nd Street are closed, Caltrans recommends the use of Hargrave Street, Eighth Street or Sunset Avenue as detours.

For closures on ramps on Ramsey Street, Caltrans recommends Hargrave Street as a detour. For Highland Springs Avenue ramps, 22nd Street or Pennsylvania Avenue can be used as detours.

The I-10 Tune-Up includes replacing guard rails, repaving outside lanes and replacing slabs in inside lanes and upgrading various on- and off-ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
