The 13th annual Picnic and Community Expo will return to Palm Springs next week after a two year-hiatus, it was announced Monday.

The picnic, hosted by the Organized Neighborhoods of Palm Springs, will be held March 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ruth Hardy Park.

The event will feature a free lunch for Palm Springs residents as well as music and informational booths highlighting local businesses, city services and neighborhood organizations, according to the city’s Amy Blaisdell.

“The annual picnic and expo is a perfect example of how our hard-working and inclusive neighborhood organizations work together to engage and educate residents about what is happening in our city,” Mayor Lisa Middleton said in a statement.

“It’s also one of the best ways I have found to meet new people and get involved while having a very good time.”

The event will also include free hot air balloon rides, a dog costume contest, face painting and other children activities.
