Monsoonal showers were expected to hit parts of Riverside County Sunday and into Monday, which could bring flash floods to the mountain areas.
The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for all Riverside County mountains that will be in effect until at least 10 p.m. Sunday.
The NWS warned that excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
“Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop,” the NWS said.
Forecasters said the storms will persist through Monday but conditions should dry up by mid-week, though the monsoonal moisture is expected to return late in the week, once again bringing a chance of clouds, showers and thunderstorms across the region.
