A motorcyclist was fatally injured Tuesday in a crash while entering Interstate 15 via an on-ramp in Temecula.
The crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. at the Rancho California Road entrance to northbound I-15, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said the rider, whose identity was not immediately released, went out of control while attempting to steer his bike onto the freeway, causing him to overturn and strike his head on the pavement.
No other vehicles were involved.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later and found the victim in grave condition. He was taken to a regional trauma center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, according to the CHP.
The on-ramp was temporarily closed to traffic while the wreckage was cleared but reopened shortly after 4 p.m.
The CHP was investigating the crash.
