A motorcyclist died Thursday when his bike overturned at a freeway interchange in west Corona, hurling the rider onto a center divider.
The fatality occurred about 11:10 a.m. on the eastbound Riverside (91) Freeway transition bridge to the northbound Corona (71) Expressway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that the motorcyclist, whose identity was not immediately released, was trying to make the transition when he apparently lost control, and his bike flipped onto the center divider, ejecting him.
No other vehicles were involved.
Several good Samaritans immediately stopped, including an off-duty nurse, who initiated CPR on the victim until Corona Fire Department paramedics reached the location, according to the CHP.
Officials said that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Officers shut down the eastbound side of the single-lane transition bridge while a preliminary investigation was conducted and the wreckage was cleared.
However, the closure was lifted about 12:25 p.m.
