A fire that erupted Wednesday just west of Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore scorched roughly an acre before firefighters got it under control.
The non-injury blaze was reported at about 1:20 p.m. in the 18100 block of Collier Avenue, near Riverside Drive, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a slow rate in thick vegetation surrounding a canal.
No homes or other structures were threatened.
Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, which was declared under control at 2:15 p.m., according to reports from the scene.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
