The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Saturday for the sixth time in the last seven days, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.817.

The average price is 4 cents less than one week ago, 6.5 cents more than one month ago, and $1.499 less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.556 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5.

The national average price dropped six-tenths of a cent to $3.577, its fifth consecutive decrease. It is 1.2 cents less than one week ago, 4.5 cents more than one month ago, and $1.423 less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.439 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14. 2022.

“We may be in a bit of a demand lull heading into the July Fourth holiday,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “Drivers are benefiting financially, with 20 gallons of gas costing nearly $30 less than last year. And with the cost for oil low, drivers will find pump prices that are flat or drifting slightly lower for now.”
