A vegetation management prescribed burn will be conducted at Lake Skinner, the Riverside County Fire Department announced Sunday.
A total of 110 acres are scheduled to be burned Monday.
The fire department announced that drift smoke may be visible from nearby communities, but will disperse quickly and is not expected to be a health hazard.
Burning operations typically begin after 6 a.m. and conclude by 1 p.m. the same day, the fire department reported.
The burn will be conducted by the Riverside County Fire Department in collaboration with Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District and the Metropolitan Water District.
“This project will benefit Riversidian sage scrub and grassland habitats, and Parry’s spine flower and also accomplishes the goal of rehabilitating burrowing owl habitat and mammal habitat for L.A. pocket mouse, San Diego pocket mouse, Stephens’ kangaroo rat and San Diego black-tailed rabbit,” announced the fire department.
The burning operation will only occur on permissive burn days as determined by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
