A book-signing event for “Starstruck,” a memoir by Chicago International Film Festival founder Michael Kutza, will be held Sunday in Palm Springs.
The free event will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at Just Fabulous, 515 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Suite A-4, and will be followed by an after-party at 6 p.m. for attendees who purchase his book, according to Kutza’s spokeswoman Nancy Sayles.
Kutza will speak and take questions for about an hour to begin the signing event, Sayles said. Attendees will be able to purchase his book at the event and get it signed by Kutza in the last hour.
Attendees who purchase a book will receive the address to the after-party, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., according to Sayles. The after-party will have no dress code and attendees will have an opportunity to indulge in hors d’oeuvres and an open bar.
“Guests who buy a book and attend the party can expect to meet a major, long-term participant in film festivals, having founded the Chicago International Film Festival, the longest-running event of its kind in North America,” Sayles said.
Kutza’s book, subtitled “How I magically transformed Chicago into Hollywood for more than fifty years,” features a collection of photographs and follows his journey of transforming Chicago into an “essential cinematic destination,” Sayles said. His festival helped introduce a variety of new talent including Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone, and Helen Mirren.
