The final day of the 9th annual Cathedral City International Hot Air Balloon Festival and Food Truck Fiesta Sunday will feature the Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa Rancho Mirage Morning Balloon Launch, starting at 6:30 a.m.
There will also be a Sunday Special Shape Breakfast and Balloons at Big League Dreams Cathedral City from 7 to 10 a.m. where attendees can enjoy a pancake breakfast as special-shaped hot air balloons inflate on nearby baseball fields.
Featured balloons will include Darth Vader and Yoda and participants will be able to walk around to explore the balloons or take a selfies to post on social media.
Additional activities Sunday will include face painting, balloon twister, a pilot meet and greet plus giveaways.
The three-day festival got underway Friday with a balloon launch at the Agua Caliente Casino.
Saturday’s events included a free Hot Air Balloon Candy drop for kids, the Food Truck Fiesta and Beer & Wine Gardens, live music, a kids’ zone, car show, tethered balloon rides and artisan market.
Festivalgoers were also able to enjoy streets filled with more than a dozen food trucks from throughout Southern California and live performances from the Rolling Stones tribute band Mick Adams, Mindi Abair and Grammy-nominated vocal group DW3.
The festival, just 7 miles from Palm Springs, draws thousands of visitors and has been voted one of the 14 Top Hot Air Balloon Festivals in the World by U.S. News and World Report.
