There will be a welcome party Thursday for players in the 30th annual Palm Springs Open, a Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance Masters Series event.

The party will be from 7 to 9 p.m. at Chill Bar, 217 E. Arenas Road, where there will be an after party Friday and Saturday nights, according to the Desert Tennis Association. Additionally, a players’ party hosted by Bella da Ball will be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Reforma, 333 S. Palm Canyon Drive, Unit 2.

Saturday’s event will feature a silent auction and raffle, officials said. It will benefit AAP — Food Samaritans, which provides nutritional support to improve the quality of the life for low-income people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses throughout the Coachella Valley.

The free tournament will begin Friday, with matches at Mission Hills Country Club and Sunrise Country Club in Rancho Mirage, the Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert and Indian Wells Tennis Gardens in Indian Wells, according to DTA officials. It will conclude Sunday at Mission Hills Country Club.

Play will start at 8 a.m. each day.

The Palm Springs Open attracts more than 300 players worldwide and raises funds for local charities.
