The California Highway Patrol will host a toy distribution event Friday in Thousand Palms for children in the Coachella Valley.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of Acrisure Arena, 75702 Varner Road, according to spokesman David Torres. It will continue until all new, unwrapped toys are distributed.
“The CHP is encouraging all families in need to bring their child or children to receive a toy,” Torres wrote. “All toys have been donated by the generous community members of the Coachella Valley.”
Each child must be present for a toy to be received, according to Torres. CHP officers on patrol will also be handing out toys before the distribution event to children in the communities they serve.
Residents who want to donate a new, unwrapped toy have until Wednesday to do so at the CHP’s Indio-area office or at any Walgreens in the Coachella Valley, Torres said.
“The thousands of toys donated will benefit needy families and children here in the Coachella Valley,” he wrote. “Every child deserves to have a special holiday.”
