A cool-down with light precipitation is forecast for the Inland Empire later this week, though the inclement weather will move out by the weekend.
The National Weather Service said a trough of low pressure currently off the Central California coast will swing across the inland region beginning Wednesday night, ushering in patchy rain and generally overcast conditions.
“There could be some patchy drizzle or light showers from this deepening marine layer, with the greater chances for Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and again for Thursday night into Friday morning,” the NWS said.
Only trace amounts of precipitation are anticipated in the Riverside metropolitan area and surrounding locations, while the deserts will receive little to nothing, according to prognostication charts published by the weather service.
Temperatures will slide from above normal to five to 10 degrees below normal Wednesday to Friday, forecasters said.
In Riverside metro, the highs Monday and Tuesday will be in the upper 70s, with overnight lows in the low 50s, while Wednesday to Friday, the daytime mercury will peak in the mid 60s, with no change in the lows.
In the Coachella Valley, highs will hold in the low to mid 90s Monday and Tuesday, then drop to around 80 Wednesday to Friday, with nighttime lows in the upper 50s all week.
The Temecula Valley’s temperature band will be virtually identical to the Riverside area’s all week.
Going into the weekend, there will be a gradual warming trend with mostly sunny skies, according to meteorologists.
