An investigation was continuing Monday into the death of a 44-year-old motorcyclist fatally injured when he collided with an SUV whose driver turned in front of him on Highway 74 in Good Hope.

Jason Frost of Lake Elsinore died shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday on the westbound 74 at Betty Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officer Mike Lassig said that Frost was traveling at an unknown speed when a 52-year-old Hesperia woman at the wheel of a 2019 Toyota Highlander pulled onto the highway from Betty, intending to head east.

The SUV appeared directly in front of the rider, who was “unable to avoid the vehicle,” Lassig said.

“The motorcycle collided into the left front side of the (Toyota),” he said. “The victim was ejected off of his motorcycle, onto the 74.”

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced Frost dead at the scene.

The Toyota driver and her passenger, identified only as a 53-year-old Hesperia man, suffered unspecified injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics, but declined to be taken to a hospital, according to the fire department and CHP.

No one was arrested.

Lassig said both sides of the highway were blocked for several hours after the deadly collision.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the CHP Temecula office at 951-466-4300.
