A collision between a tractor-trailer and compact sedan on Interstate 15 in Eastvale Tuesday left two people trapped in the smaller vehicle, but they weren’t hurt.

The crash happened at about 3 p.m. on the southbound I-15 transition to the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said the big rig and Mini Cooper impacted in the fast lane of the connector bridge, crunching the sedan, whose two occupants were unable to free themselves.

No other details regarding the collision were immediately available.

Riverside County Fire Department and Ontario Fire Department crews reached the location 15 to 20 minutes later and safely extricated the victims, who did not require hospitalization, the CHP said.

The Mini Cooper was towed clear of the connector, and the trucker was able to reposition his semi without difficulty shortly before 4 p.m., clearing the way for traffic.

The collision was under investigation.
