A driver who was ejected and killed after veering off the roadway and rolling over multiple times was identified Friday by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Coachella resident Jose Manuel Rodriguez, 34, the lone occupant of a Ford Expedition, made an unsafe turning motion around 10:30 a.m. Thursday while eastbound on Interstate 10 just west of Cook Street, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David Torres. He then drove off the right shoulder of the roadway and overturned multiple times.

Rodriguez was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to Torres.

Investigating officials were “not suspecting impairment” as of Friday morning, Torres told City News Service, but it was still uncertain whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
