The soaring summer heat dipped a few digits in some areas of Riverside County Sunday, with more hot weather expected this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Sunday temperatures reached 97 degrees in downtown Riverside, while Palm Springs had a high of 107. Highs in Riverside are expected to hover in the mid-90s all week, with lows in the mid-to-upper 60s.

Palm Springs will reach 107 again on Monday, rising to 108 on Tuesday and 109 the following two days, forecasters said.

Coachella reached 106 on Sunday and was expected to peak at 108 on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sunday afternoon also featured a brief thunderstorm warning and flood advisory for parts of Riverside County.
