Rob Thomas will perform at Agua Caliente Resort Casino Friday.
Thomas’ performance on Friday will benefit the animal advocacy group Sidewalk Angels Foundation, according to the venue.
With his versatile and raspy pop rock vocal style, Thomas has been producing music for approximately three decades, both as a solo artist and the frontman of Matchbox Twenty.
He is best known as the guest singer on Santana’s single “Smooth,” which spent 12 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Thomas all three of his career Grammy wins, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Matchbox Twenty’s debut album, “Yourself or Someone Like You,” reached RIAA 12x-Platinum status with its post-grunge sounds, while their follow-up project’s lead single, “Bent,” became the band’s first No. 1 hit. Their latest album, 2023’s “Where the Light Goes,” was the group’s first in over a decade.
Thomas told People that the album steered away from the “manufactured ’90s angst” of their earlier work.
“The one thing I’m glad is that I got to see a glimpse of what we sound like when we make music together now,” he said.
Following the 8 p.m. concert, Thomas is scheduled for another show in Lincoln, in Placer County, on Saturday.
