Rain showers are forecast throughout the Inland Empire this weekend, though the precipitation is expected to be light and scattered in most locations, according to the National Weather Service.
The agency said that a trough of low pressure sliding down from the Pacific Northwest will begin to impact regional weather Saturday afternoon.
The cyclonic activity will persist into Monday, with “occasional periods of mostly lighter rainfall,” the NWS said.
The heaviest precipitation will drench Northern and Central California as the trough trundles eastward, dissipating by Tuesday.
Snow levels will hold above 8,000 feet, forecasters said.
High temperatures will reach the upper 70s in the Riverside metropolitan area on Friday, but for the weekend, the daytime mercury will stall in the mid 60s. Lows through the weekend will fall into the mid 40s.
In the Coachella Valley, highs Friday will top out in the low 80s, while through the weekend, temps will moderate slightly, holding in the mid 70s. Overnight lows are anticipated to drop into the mid 50s.
The Temecula Valley’s temperature band will be virtually identical to Riverside metro, meteorologists said.
