The average price of a gallon of self-service regular gasoline in Riverside County was at its lowest amount on Thanksgiving since 2020 Thursday.
The average price dropped one-tenth of a cent Thursday to $4.334, six-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 7.6 cents less than one month ago and 47.8 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price has dropped $2.039 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The average price on Thanksgiving 2020 was $3.107. Analysts attributed the relatively low average to the sharp decreases in the early months of the coronavirus pandemic because of reduced demand.
The national average price dropped eight-tenths of a cent to $3.065 after back-to-back increases totaling 1.7 cents. It is two-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 6.5 cents less than one month ago and 18.1 cents lower than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.951 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
