In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Palm Desert city officials will host their 15th annual ceremony to commemorate the Holocaust’s victims at the Civic Center Park Monday, city officials said.
The event will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Civic Center Park, 43900 San Pablo Avenue, between Fred Waring Drive and San Pablo Avenue.
City officials said the program will feature speakers including members from the Gerald F. Ford Chapter of the Mensch International Foundation, musical performances, a presentation of the Mensch Awards, and it will conclude with a remembrance walk from the park amphitheatre to the nearby Holocaust Memorial.
According to the United Nations General Assembly, the date of the Remembrance Day coincides with the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
There will be limited seating to the free event, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets.
