David Spade and Dana Carvey will take the mic at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Saturday.
The comedians both rose to prominence as cast members on “Saturday Night Live” — Carvey from 1986-93 and Spade from 1990-96. Spade, who started as a writer on “SNL,” said most of his material was given to Carvey during his early years.
Carvey has six Emmy nominations, including five consecutive nominations as an “SNL” cast member, winning in 1993 for “Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program.” Spade’s lone Emmy nomination came from his role in the 1997-2003 series “Just Shoot Me!,” where Carvey also made a guest appearance.
Both comics also found Hollywood success after leaving Studio 8H, with Spade starring in “Tommy Boy,” “Joe Dirt” and the “Grown-Ups” films, in addition to a main role in “Rules of Engagement.” Carvey reprised his iconic Garth Algar character in the “Wayne’s World” movies and also appeared in “Opportunity Knocks,” “Trapped in Paradise,” and “The Master of Disguise.” He also returned to “SNL” during the show’s 50th season as a recurring impersonator for Joe Biden and Elon Musk.
Spade and Carvey also co-host the “Fly on the Wall” podcast, featuring jokes, behind-the-scenes showbiz anecdotes and other guests from the comedy world, often fellow cast members.
