The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Friday for the 24th time in 25 days, decreasing 1.6 cents to $4.455, its lowest amount since Feb. 5.
The average price has dropped 23 cents over the past 25 days, including 1.5 cents Thursday, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It fell for seven consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent May 27 and resumed dropping the next day.
The average price is 7.8 cents less than one week ago, 22.5 cents lower than one month ago and 30.2 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.918 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Oil Price Information Service and the Energy Information Administration continue to report high refinery utilization rates on the West Coast, indicating that they are maximizing production of gasoline and other fuels,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.
“The latest price reductions have brought pump prices within about 30 cents of their lowest level of 2025, which was at the start of the year.”
The national average price rose four-tenths of a cent to $3.132, the third consecutive slight increase after a five-day streak of decreases totaling 2.2 cents. It has risen 1.1 cents over the past three days, including four-tents of a cent Thursday.
The national average price is nine-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 2.5 cents lower than one month ago and 32.8 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.884 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
