An investigation was underway Friday after one person was taken into custody and another fled to avoid capture for their alleged involvement in a hit-and-run collision in Rancho Mirage.
Deputies responded to the area of Bob Hope and Dinah Shore drives at 5:25 p.m. Thursday regarding a hit-and-run crash, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers.
Authorities located the vehicle after obtaining a description, and attempted a traffic stop, Vickers said.
The driver and the lone passenger fled the scene on foot in the 40000 block of Sagewood Drive in Palm Desert.
It was not clear which of the occupants was taken into custody, nor the identities of the suspects.
