An investigation continued Friday into a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy who was struck and injured by a vehicle in Moreno Valley.
The deputy had responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Indian Street and Alessandro Boulevard, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers. He was hit by a vehicle while conducting the investigation.
The driver, who had no connection to the assault call, fled the scene.
The deputy was taken to a hospital, where he remained in stable condition, said Vickers.
The California Highway Patrol was continuing the investigation.
