The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped four-tenths of a cent Sunday to $4.365, its lowest amount since Jan. 29.

The average price has dropped for six consecutive days, decreasing 3 cents, according to figures by AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 2.7 cents less than one week ago, 9 cents less than one month ago and 30.5 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.008 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price also dropped four-tenths of a cent, to $3.153. It is eight-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 2.1 cents more than one month ago, but 37.4 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.863 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“It’s been four years since the national average has been this low during the summer,” according to the AAA. “This season’s lower pump prices are due to an abundance of supply in the oil market.”
