The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County was unchanged Saturday for the fifth time in six days, remaining at $4.60.
The average price is seven-tenths of a cent less than one week ago but 14.9 cents more than one month ago and 17.4 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
The average price was unchanged Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. It dropped a half-cent Wednesday.
The average price has dropped $1.773 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped for the eighth time in nine days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.137. It has dropped 6.6 cents over the past nine days, including nine-tenths of a cent Friday. The national average price decreased three consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Monday then resumed dropping Tuesday.
The national average price is 5.2 cents less than one week ago, 7.1 cents lower than one month ago and 8.6 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.879 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
AAA attributes the dropping prices in part to the start of the sale of winter-blend gasoline in some states which is cheaper to produce and the resolution of a pipeline issue in the Pacific Northwest.
