The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped for the 44th time in 45 days Saturday, falling 1.4 cents to $5.212, its lowest amount since March 9, but its second highest amount ever on July 4.
The only year with a higher average price on July 4 was 2022, when the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County was $6.179.
The average price has dropped 84.3 cents over the past 45 days, including nine-tenths of a cent Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 8.8 cents less than one week ago and 62.9 cents less than one month ago, but 82 cents more than one year ago.
The national average price dropped for the 42nd time in 44 days, falling 1.3 cents to $3.81, its lowest amount since March 17. It has decreased 75.4 cents over the past 44 days, including 1.5 cents Friday. The national average price is 6.8 cents less than one week ago and 43.1 cents less than one month ago, but 65.8 cents more than one year ago.
“Crude oil prices have fallen to their lowest levels in months, dropping to the $60 a barrel range,” the AAA said Thursday. “Overall, gas prices remain the highest they’ve been in 4 years, but the downward trend since late May is welcome news during the busy summer driving season.”
