The LA KISS of the Arena Football League  acquired quarterback Danny Southwick from the Spokane Shock in exchange for future considerations.

The winless KISS needed to obtain another quarterback after placing Matt Bassuener, their starter the past two games, on injured reserve. Bassuener suffered a soft tissue injury to his throwing hand in a 68-46 loss at Spokane May 8.

Rookie Joe Clancy, acquired April 28, is the other quarterback on the KISS roster.

The trade reunites Southwick with KISS offensive coordinator Matthew Sauk, who coached him last season in Portland.

The 33-year-old Southwick is in his fifth season in the AFL. He completed his college career at Occidental. He also spent time at Oregon State and Utah.

Southwick is a stepson of talk show host Larry King.

The KISS (0-7) will play at Portland (2-4) Saturday.

Bassuener will be eligible to be activated in time for the team’s next home game, May 31 against the Jacksonville Sharks at Honda Center, as will Adrian McPherson, the KISS starting quarterback for the first four games this season.

McPherson has been sidelined since suffering a soft tissue injury to his right foot in a 61-48 loss at Orlando April 18.
