Authorities have asked for the public’s help in the search for a missing 24-year-man from the Ivory Coast who took part in the Special Olympics.
Abidjan Ouattara was last seen around 11 p.m. Monday at Inglewood’s Adventurer Hotel at 4200 W. Century Blvd., where he had been staying while competing, according to Inglewood police.
Ouattara, who is not believed to be carrying any money or a cell phone, had been scheduled to depart from Los Angeles International Airport at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. He is black, speaks only French, has physical impairments to his left hand and forearm, and was last seen wearing a white athletic jacket with a blue or orange T-shirt, white trousers and sandals.
Anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts was urged to call Inglewood police at (310) 412-5240 or (888) 412-7463.
Another member of the Ivory Coast team, 15-year-old Shion Isimel, disappeared from LAX early Monday morning, prompting a wide-scale search. He was found around 3:40 p.m. Monday sleeping on a lawn in the 600 block of East Hyde Park in Inglewood.
Isimel vanished hours after a missing 44-year-old Special Olympics athlete from Albania was found safe in Hayward in the San Francisco Bay area, after disappearing Sunday from USC.
