The National Hockey League Saturday announced that Staples Center and the Los Angeles Kings will host the 2017 NHL All-Star Game.

The game will take place on Jan. 29, 2017, and is the highlight of All- Star Weekend Jan. 28-29, which also includes a skills competition and a fan fair.

“We are thrilled that the Kings and Staples Center will host such a fantastic event in 2017 and the weekend will be one of the true highlights of our 50th anniversary season,” said Kings Alternate Governor Dan Beckerman. ” … We will put forth all of our resources to truly make it a special game and weekend for both the hockey and sports community.”

The league’s all-star game was last held at Staples Center in 2002.

Today’s announcement was made in Nashville, site of the 2016 NHL All- Star Game, which takes place on Sunday.

Ticketing information for the 2017 game will be announced at a later date.
