The much-derided Rams have a losing season for their first year back in Los Angeles and fans are outraged over a contract extension for the coach.
Now Los Angeles Rams kick returner and reserve running back Benny Cunningham was listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum after missing Friday’s practice because of a neck injury.
Cunningham also missed Wednesday’s practice because of the injury sustained in Sunday’s 26-10 loss to the New England Patriots.
Cunningham is 15th in the NFL in kickoff returns with a 27.2-yard average.
As is their custom, the Rams did not practice on Thursday.
Starting cornerback E.J. Gaines also missed his second consecutive practice because of a thigh injury and is listed as questionable.
The only other player on the Rams injury report, starting defensive end Robert Quinn, was listed as questionable because of a concussion suffered in the 49-21 loss to New Orleans Nov. 27.
Quinn missed the Patriots game and had limited participation in Wednesday’s practice, but fully participated in Friday’s practice.
A player listed as doubtful means it is unlikely he will play. A player listed as questionable means it is uncertain whether he will play.
A player is consider to have limited participation in practice when he participates in less than less than 100 percent of his normal repetitions.
Quarterback Jared Goff fully participated in practice after missing Wednesday’s practice because of what he called “a little stomach deal.”
“It was a little one-day deal,” Goff said.
Goff said he came into the team’s practice facility at California Lutheran University Thursday, a day off for players, spending “basically all day just trying to get caught up.”
