The Los Angeles Rams claimed quarterback Brandon Allen on waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday and cut cornerback Kevin Peterson to make room for him on the roster.
Allen was drafted by the Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, the 201st overall selection, out of Arkansas. He did not play in any regular-season games in 2016. He was among five players cut by Jacksonville on Sunday to make room for five players claimed on waivers.
The move reunites Allen with quarterbacks coach Greg Olson, the Jaguars offensive coordinator from 2015-16.
“He’s a guy that’s put some good stuff on tape,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. “We’ll be able to develop him and see how he does.”
Peterson spent three days on the Chicago Bears roster in 2016 and was on the Rams practice squad the final week last season. He has never played in a regular-season game.
The Rams waived undrafted rookie free agent linebacker Kevin Davis from the injured reserve list after reaching an injury settlement with him.
