
The 2018 Rose Queen will be crowned Wednesday evening, chosen from among seven high school teens who emerged from a field of nearly 1,000 applicants to land spots on the Tournament of Roses Royal Court.
The Rose Queen and her six princesses will attend nearly 100 community and media events leading up to the Jan. 1 Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game. Members of the court are chosen based on criteria including poise, speaking ability, academic achievement, youth leadership and community and school involvement.
One of the seven members of the Royal Court will be chosen Rose Queen during a coronation event at the Pasadena Playhouse.
The members of the Royal Court are:
— Alexandra Marie Artura, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy;
— Savannah Rose Bradley, Pasadena High School;
— Lauren Elizabeth Buehner, Arcadia High School;
— Georgia Jane Cervenka, La Canada High School;
— Julianne Elise Lauenstein, La Canada High School;
— Isabella Marie Marez, La Salle High School; and
— Sydney Grace Pickering, Arcadia High School.
Marez is 18 years old, while the rest of the Royal Court members are 17.
