A 50-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a black SUV while crossing a Mission Hills street, and the vehicle’s driver failed to stop, authorities said Monday.
The crash occurred at 9:25 p.m. Sunday in the 14700 block of Devonshire Street east of Woodman Avenue, according to a desk officer at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center.
The Los Angeles County medical examiner ‘s office later identified the man as North Hills resident Jesus Portillo,
Portillo was crossing Devonshire Street outside of the marked crosswalk when he was struck, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A description of the fleeing driver was not immediately available.
