The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped eight-tenths of a cent Friday to $4.77, after back-to-back decreases of 1.4 cents.
The average price is 3.4 cents less than one week ago, six-tenths of a cent lower than one month ago and 28.2 cents below what it was one year ago., according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.723 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 14th time in 15 days, decreasing four-tenths of a cents to $4.684. It has dropped 8.4 cents over the past 15 days, including 1.5 cents Thursday. The average price fell 10 consecutive days, was unchanged Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.
The Orange County average price is 3.9 cents less the one week ago, 4 cents lower one month ago and 27.7 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.774 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Despite the increased travel over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Southern California gas prices continued to fall as more supply became available,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.
“Oil Price Information Service reports that additional imported gasoline may be arriving soon, which means price drops could continue.”
The national average price resumed decreasing, dropping four-tenths of a cent to $3.162, one day after a five-day streak of decreases totaling 3.3 cents ended with a increase of three-tenths of a cent.
The national average price is 3.4 cents less than one week ago, 2 cents lower than one month ago and 40.6 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.854 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
