The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Friday for the third consecutive day after dropping to its lowest amount since Jan. 15, increasing two-tenths of a cent to $4.473.
The average price has increased eight-tenths of a cent over the past three days, including a half-cent Thursday, its largest increase since June 23, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is two-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 10.7 cents lower than one month ago and 14.7 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.02 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price also rose for the third consecutive day after dropping to its lowest amount since Jan. 15, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.418. It has risen 1.3 cents over the past three days, including four-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price is four-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 8.9 cents lower than one month ago and 12.9 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.04 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“California’s average gas price is holding steady this week, even with strong summer demand and a slight increase in crude oil prices,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement released Thursday.
“Drivers in several areas — including Los Angeles-Long Beach, San Diego, the Central Coast, Riverside and Bakersfield — are even seeing small drops at the pump, thanks to solid supply keeping prices in check.”
The national average price rose for the third consecutive day after a five-day streak of decreases totaling 2.6 cents, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.151. It has risen 1.5 cents over the past three days, including seven-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The national average price is nine-tenths of a cent less than one week ago, 2.7 cents lower than one month ago and 33.2 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.865 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
