Motorists are being advised to plan ahead for next week’s closure of lanes and ramps on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar.
The closures between Lemon Avenue/Brea Canyon Road and Diamond Bar Boulevard start at midnight Friday and will end at 8 a.m. Sunday, according to the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments.
The closures planned are as follows:
— On Saturday until 6 a.m., the westbound Diamond Bar Boulevard on-ramp and the Grand Avenue on- and off-ramps will be closed, as will the connector between the southbound Orange (57) Freeway to the westbound 60;
— Also on Saturday, the westbound 60 connector to the southbound 57 will be closed along with the Grand Avenue Bridge;
— On Sunday, the northbound on-ramp from Pathfinder Road to the northbound 57 Freeway will be open only for connecting to the westbound 60;
— The on-ramp from Lemon Avenue to the eastbound 60 will be open only for access to the southbound 57;
— The northbound connector from the 57 Freeway to the eastbound 60 will be closed along with the on- and off-ramps between the eastbound 60 and Grand Avenue;
— The Diamond Bar Boulevard on-ramp to the westbound 60 will be closed along with the Grand Avenue on- and off-ramps;
— The westbound connector from the 60 to the southbound 57 and the connector from the southbound 57 to the westbound 60 will be closed, and the Grand Avenue Bridge will also be closed.
The work is part of an ongoing safety and traffic flow project along a two-mile stretch of the Orange-Pomona freeway interchange.
Officials had originally said only partial closures would be in effect for east- and westbound lanes of the 60 Freeway on Sunday, but the SGVCOG later announced revised plans to include full closures “to ensure maximum safety during critical construction activities.”
A virtual news conference to detail the closures and alternative routes was scheduled for Wednesday morning.
