A fatal six-vehicle crash snarled traffic through a busy freeway interchange near downtown Los Angeles Tuesday.
The crash was reported just after 8 a.m. Tuesday on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway near Soto Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, an officer said.
The crash and response prompted a Sigalert for all three lanes of the northbound I-5 transition road where the freeway meets the 60, 10 and 101 freeways in Boyle Heights.
Northbound traffic on I-5 was backed up to Ditman Avenue, according to Sigalert.com.
All lanes were reopened at about 12:10 p.m., according to the CHP.
