Lane reductions and ramp closures are scheduled on the San Diego (405) Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass this week as Caltrans crews continue a pavement rehabilitation project.
The continuing intermittent closures, which began Monday night, will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Friday as follows:
— Up to two northbound lanes will be closed between Sepulveda Boulevard and Victory Boulevard;
— Up to four northbound lanes will be closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive;
— The eastbound Wilshire on-ramp to northbound 405 will be closed;
— The Moraga Drive on-ramp to northbound 405 will be closed;
— The northbound 405 off-ramps to Moraga and Getty Center Drive will be closed;
— Up to four northbound lanes will be closed between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland and Sepulveda;
— Up to four southbound lanes will be closed between Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland and Wilshire;
— The Sepulveda, Ventura Boulevard and Burbank Boulevard on-ramps to southbound 405 will be closed;
— Up to four southbound lanes will be closed between the 101 Freeway and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland;
— Up to two southbound lanes will be closed between Victory and the 101; and
— The northbound 101 connector to southbound 405 and the southbound 101 connectors to northbound 405 and southbound 405 will be closed.
Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday and extending through 5 a.m. Monday, southbound overnight reductions will see the 405 reduced to three lanes between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive.
Additionally, the Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 405 will be closed, as will the Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 405, the off-ramp from the 405 to Getty Center Drive, the northbound Ventura (101) Freeway connector to the southbound 405 and the southbound 101 Freeway connector to the southbound 405.
The closures will be repeated the following weekend, from 10 p.m. Aug. 21 to 5 a.m. Aug. 24.
The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph in certain northbound and southbound sections of the freeway during the work, Caltrans said.
Motorists are advised to leave extra time and use alternate routes.
The project includes K-rail installation and paving work as part of a $143.7 million effort to rehabilitate the 405 between Van Nuys and Westwood through the Sepulveda Pass.
