Police Thursday were investigating the burglary of film comic Rob Schneider’s Encino-area home in which a $175,000 Willie Mays baseball card was stolen.
The break-in occurred some time between 7 and 11 p.m. Friday at Schneider’s residence in the 4800 block of Gloria Avenue, according to Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado. Schneider is perhaps best known for his starring role in the 1999 film Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo.
The LAPD would only confirm that “jewelry and personal items” were taken, but TMZ reported that “a mint condition 1951 Bowan Willie Mays rookie card” valued at $175,000 was among the stolen items.
According to TMZ, Schneider was in Montreal at the time of the crime, and his wife was having dinner in Los Angeles when thieves broke in through a sliding glass door and stole her “diamond engagement ring, a Cartier watch and other expensive items.”
