A brush fire in Thermal that burned five acres is contained Wednesday.
The fire broke out at 4:19 p.m. Tuesday near Avenue 60 and Polk Street and forced the closure of Polk Street between Avenue 60 and Avenue 69, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The road has reopened.
It took 23 firefighters about two hours and 20 minutes to contain the fire, Newman said.
No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.
