Fire erupted Wednesday morning in a commercial building in Indio and 29 firefighters extinguished the flames in 40 minutes.

Firefighters responded at 2:55 a.m. to the area near Biskra Street and Indio Boulevard and were able to contain the fire to the interior of the building and a knockdown was declared at 3:35 a.m, according to a statement from the Riverside County Fire Department.

Items inside the building burned, but it was unclear what those items were, the fire department said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
