The Riverside County Fire Department released a list of locations Thursday where Coachella Valley residents can pick up sandbags to protect their homes from flooding.

With rainfall capable of causing flooding forecast in the region for Thursday, authorities have arranged for sandbags and sand to be distributed at various locations in the Coachella Valley, primarily at county fire stations.

Supplies will be available at the following locations:

— Coachella City Yard, 53462 Enterprise Way, for sandbags and sand;

— City of Indio City Yard, 83101 Avenue 45, for sandbags and sand;

— City of Palm Desert City Yard, 74705 Avenue 42, for sandbags and sand;

— Fire Station 45, 17280 W. Hobsonway, Blythe, for sandbags;

— Fire Station 46, 33300 state Route 95, Blythe, for sandbags;

— Fire Station 49, 43880 Lake Tamarisk, Desert Center, for sandbags;

Moderate to heavy rain is expected through Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service. Rainfall totals over the previous four days include more than an inch recorded in Whitewater and Desert Hot Springs, and nearly an inch at Palm Springs International Airport.
