The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped under $4 for the first time since Sept. 29 Tuesday, decreasing 1.4 cents to $3.999.
The average price has dropped for 15 consecutive days, decreasing 16 cents, including six-tenths of a cent Monday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 8.6 cents less than one week ago, but four-tenths of a cent more than one month ago and 22.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has risen 73.1 cents since the start of the year.
The streak of dropping prices began eight days after a run of 20 increases in 22 days pushed the average price to its highest amount since July 21, 2015.
