A motorist killed in a head-on crash involving a sedan and pickup truck just east of Nuevo was identified Thursday as a 23-year-old Perris resident.
Alejandro Corrales was fatally injured in the predawn collision Wednesday on the Ramona Expressway, just east of Sixth Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Corrales was driving a Toyota Corolla east on the expressway about 4:30 a.m. when a Ford F-150 pickup driven by 68-year-old Joey Miles of Nuevo approached from the opposite direction.
“For reasons still under investigation, both motorists were involved in a head-on collision,” CHP Officer Juan Quintero said.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics pronounced Corrales dead at the scene.
“Mr. Miles sustained no visible injuries and declined medical treatment,” Quintero said.
The crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information was urged to call the CHP’s Riverside office at 951-637-8000.
